Matthew has been involved with puppetry most of his life. For five years he worked as a principal performer with Beale Street Puppets. With Beale Street, Matthew performed all over the US and in Edinburgh, Scotland at the Festival Fringe.
Working on his own, Matthew has built several versions of Audrey II, the man-eating plant in Little Shop of Horrors, a life size Rhino puppet for Circus Millennia, a 13 foot long dragon, and a host of puppets for Imagination Stage of Bethesda, MD.
Matthew can build and operate many types of puppets, including but not limited to hand and rod puppets, cable controlled puppets, marionettes, etc. If you would like Matthew to build a puppet for your show in the DC metro area, or help teach performers how to bring puppets to life onstage, please email him at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Shows at Imagination Stage featuring Matthew’s puppets include: Wonderland: Alice’s Rock & Roll Adventure, 101 Dalmatians, Lulu and the Brontosaurus, The BFG, Ferdinand the Bull, Trickman: a Spell of Cold Weather, Voyage of the Jumblies, two productions of Bunnicula, and The Little Mermaid co-production with the Washington Ballet.
